Google finally releases the ninth version of Android which was codenamed Android P, is now officially named ‘Pie‘. You can use this Android 9 Pie right now if you own a Google Pixel.
The bunch of few features we can find in the latest version includes the Slices and Actions, that will provide a new way for the users to interact with the Android Apps. Slices show the content of the apps without opening the app. If you search ‘Lyft’ on your phone, then you’ll not only find the app, but also the list of actions you can perform inside the app such as the button to call the ride without actually opening the app.
App Actions, on the other hand, set up a link to other app depending upon the usage history. For example, if you open your home screen you might find a button to call someone. App Actions predict what next action you are likely going to perform using your phone.
According to TheNextWeb, the latest Android will also feature Digital Wellbeing Package that would comprise of App Timer, to set the time limit on how long you should use a particular app and Shush and Wind Down feature. Shush and Wind Down feature would help the users to disengage themselves from their phone and is also an update to the Google’s pre-existing Do Not Disturb Mode. The Wind Down mode starts fading the screen to grayscale and makes it difficult for the user to see, around the bedtime.
You can find the Quick setting menu that lends support for navigating through the operating system using gestures, offers the ability to take a screenshot using the power button also provides smart suggestions to reply to the messages in notifications.
The list doesn’t end here Android 9 Pie features Adaptive Battery to prioritize the battery level for the apps you use more often. The Adaptive Brightness sets the brightness level for you by learning it from how you set the brightness in different settings.
For security, Google is preparing dedicated security chips to protect data and restricts various apps from accessing users phone camera, mics and credit card details.
